Rachel lost her son to Sudden Adult Death and now she wants to run at an event in his memory.

Rachel (49) is an accounts admin, but soon to be psychotherapist from Co. Carlow. After everything she has experienced over the past few years, Rachel has retrained with the aim of helping others.

Rachael tragically lost her 26-year-old son, an army private, to undiagnosed SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome). Shortly afterwards, her husband was diagnosed with ARVC (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy).

Having navigated the profound shock and grief of her son’s death alongside her husband’s diagnosis, Rachel is now focused on supporting others in finding healthy ways to cope with life’s challenges. Each year, her family honours her son’s memory by raising awareness through a 5K run on the anniversary of his passing, and for the first time, Rachel hopes to be able to run it herself.

Rachael is determined to rediscover her motivation, reconnect with joy, and embrace life as she approaches 50!
